Most people do not need all of Acrobat
Acrobat is a large program with a large price. Most people open it for a handful of jobs: join two files, make one smaller for email, turn a PDF into Word, fill in a form, sign it, send it back.
For those jobs, a monthly subscription is a lot to pay. Easy File Tools does them for free, in a browser tab, in a few seconds. You do not install anything, and you do not sign in with an Adobe ID.
Your file stays on your computer
Adobe's free online tools upload your file to Adobe's cloud to process it. The desktop app works on your computer, but you pay for it every month.
When you upload a file anywhere, you trust the company with it. You cannot see what happens on its servers, how long copies are kept, or whether the file is used to improve its software. Big companies publish policies on this, and policies can change.
Easy File Tools gives you the privacy of a desktop app without the install or the bill. The tools run in your browser, and your own device does the work. Your PDF is never sent to us, so we could not keep it or look at it even if we wanted to.
You do not have to take our word for it. Open a tool, then turn off Wi-Fi or unplug the network cable. The tool still works, because nothing needs to go anywhere. If you are technical, open your browser's developer tools and watch the network tab while a file is processed: the file is not sent.
No task counter
Acrobat online lets you complete one task before it asks you to sign in. With a free Adobe account, most of its tools then allow one task every 30 days. After that, the answer is a subscription.
We do not count tasks, and we do not set a file size limit. Use any tool as many times as you need. Your device's memory is the only real limit.
Free, and how that is possible
Because your own device does the work, we do not pay for servers that process other people's files. Serving the web page costs very little, so we can keep every tool free, with no paid plan and no trial.
Questions people ask
- Can this replace Adobe Acrobat Reader?
- For reading, yes. The PDF reader opens files in your browser with search, an outline, highlights and comments. You do not install anything.
- Can I edit the text in a PDF?
- Yes, line by line. Click a line to change its words, font or style, and move it if the new text is longer. You can also add text, images, shapes, notes and signatures. A paragraph does not reflow when you change one line. For big rewrites, convert the PDF to Word, edit it there, and save it back to PDF.
- Can I fill in and sign forms?
- Yes. Fill PDF forms fills the existing fields and can flatten the result. Edit PDF lets you draw, type or upload a signature and place it on the page.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. Open a tool in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. It runs in the page.
- Is it really free, or is there a paywall later?
- It is free. There is no paid plan, no task counter and no upgrade prompt. Large files can be slow on older devices, but that is the device, not a limit from us.
- Does it also replace Foxit or Nitro?
