Redact PDF

How to use it

1. 1.Work on a copy, and find every instance of the sensitive data: visible, repeated, in the metadata, in attachments, in annotations.
2. 2.Draw boxes that cover the whole thing, descenders and neighboring fragments included.
3. 3.Export, then attack the result: search it, select it, copy it, zoom in, and open it in a different viewer.

Options

• Boxes cover text, images, signatures, or any mix of them.
• The dark fill makes it obvious that something was taken out, rather than quietly reflowing the page.

Limitations

• Draw the box, then check the export. A box that only covers content visually is the classic redaction failure.
• Metadata, bookmarks, attachments, comments, an OCR layer, and the same value repeated elsewhere each need their own look.
