What bitrate should I choose for spoken audio?
Speech is usually clear at a lower bitrate than music. Start around 96–128 kbps for mono speech and use a higher setting when the recording includes music or important ambience.
Is loudness normalization the same as turning up volume?
No. Normalization measures perceived loudness and adjusts the program toward a target, while a simple gain change raises or lowers every sample by a fixed amount.
Why might joining audio clips require re-encoding?
