About Silence remover

Silence Remover finds the passages quieter than a threshold you set and cuts the pauses that run longer than you allow, with separate minimums for the opening and the rest of the track.

How to use it

Add the recording and work out where the noise floor sits against the pauses you actually want gone.

Set the threshold and the minimum durations conservatively, then look at what it plans to cut.

Process it and listen around several cuts before accepting the shorter file.

Options

The threshold is how quiet a passage has to be before it counts as silence.
Two separate minimums, each 0 to 10 seconds, cover the silence at the start and the pauses after it, so a breath does not trigger a cut.

Limitations

Steady background noise holds the quiet parts above the threshold, and then nothing is detected at all.
Push it too hard and the pacing goes strange, or quiet syllables and music tails disappear.

Common questions

Why were some pauses left alone?

They sit above the threshold, or they are shorter than the minimum you set. Look at the waveform before turning the sensitivity up.

Does it clean up background noise?

No. It removes stretches of time. It does nothing about a constant hiss under the speech.
